Macayo’s Mexican Kitchen: An Arizona favorite since 1946! At Macayo’s Mexican Kitchen we provide our guests with fresh, homemade Mexican food prepared in their kitchens every day.

Tradition has it, it all started when Woody and Victoria Johnson opened their first restaurant in Phoenix, Arizona in 1946. That day, they established the commitment to quality ingredients served with a warm and friendly touch that continues today as Macayo’s celebrates its 69th anniversary! The Johnson family has 13 Arizona locations and two in Las Vegas, all family-owned and locally-operated.

Macayo’s Mexican Kitchen grows its own farm-fresh chiles and blends them into family recipes. Fresh ingredients, food prepared every day and great service to all guests. That’s what it’s all about.

Macayo’s at Super Bowl Fan Fest!

Throughout the entire week leading up to Super Bowl XLIX we were honored to serve as the Official Caterer & Liquor Vendor for Fan Fest Scottsdale, Home of ESPN’s Live Broadcast. Our days began bright and early as we opened at 8 a.m. everyday. Serving delicious margaritas, fresh guacamole, grilled chicken tacos & burritos and much more, it was a very busy week!

It was so much fun to meet and spend time with each and every one of the fans who came out, whether our local guests or out-of-towners. We were so honored to be a part of this national event.

“You see the national sponsors here,” said General Manager Jeff Rhodes, “and we’ve been around since 1946. Longer than the Super Bowl. We’re really excited and really proud. This is huge for Macayo’s.”

We served our Patron margaritas to thirsty fans all week. Our menu was executed through an on-site kitchen, using only the freshest ingredients. Can’t wait to do it again the next time Arizona hosts Super Bowl!

National Guacamole Day!

It may not seem like the most important day…but it is an important one to us! When Mexican food comes to mind, we assume you are just like us and start to daydream about delicious salsas and guacamole. They have become some of the most important aspects of a real Mexican experience.

Guacamole was made by the Aztecs during the 16th century. The name comes from an Aztec dialect; Nahutl, which literally translates to avocado sauce. Guacamole is one of the most dynamic and easiest foods to make. When originally created the recipe called for avocados and sea salt. Now, today you have recipes that include tomato, onion, garlic, jalapenos, spices and seasonings. You name it…and we are sure someone has tried to add it to their guacamole.

As we are always trying to improve and evolve with our guests’ tastes we have decided to mix up our guacamole recipe! Bringing our guests a new, bold and even fresher flavor! We are very excited to share it with you!

The 30th Annual My Nana’s Best Tasting Salsa Challenge

On Saturday, March 8th we partnered with the Arizona Hemophilia Association to put on the 30th Annual My Nana’s Best Tasting Salsa Challenge, held at Steele Indian School Park in Phoenix. The Salsa Challenge is something that we really look forward to each year and love to participate. Not only is it a really fun event, but the Salsa Challenge also benefits the Arizona Hemophilia Association; a volunteer-based organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for people with inherited bleeding disorders, a truly great cause.
